High-quality shades feel soft and blend easily
The shape of the shadows
I love the packaging of this palette. It’s easy enough to toss in your purse for a makeup change after work or small enough to keep in your glovebox. It doesn’t feel fragile. The applicator is kind of a throw-away product; I won’t use it but it’s nice that one end is more tapered and one end is a standard foam applicator. The shape of the shadows is a bit strange…it’s a nice aesthetic, it looks like an artist’s palette but the functionality of getting a larger brush into the single pan becomes more troublesome that it should be.
I love this little palette. I don’t usually purchase L’Oreal because of their stance on animal testing but I thought I would give this palette a shot because of the hype I’d heard about it. The four shades included are as follows:
#1- taupe, cool toned and frosty
#2- champagne highlight, frosty and shimmery
#3- plum, slight blue-toned sheen, slight shimmer/sparkle
#4- charcoal shimmer
The pigmentation on the charcoal shade is awesome, I like it better than MAC’s Knight Divine after only one use. The colors blend easily and don’t require much effort to achieve full pigmentation. All colors have at least a hint of shimmer and/or sheen. Plum is almost matte but still bears a hint of sheen and shimmer. Charcoal has no sheen but contains shimmer.
I used the palette as instructed on the package, taupe all over lid, champagne highlight, plum crease and charcoal liner. The L’Oreal site has several variations on the palette (5 picture tutorials are shown online at this time).
Overall, I find this cool-toned palette to be extremely flattering and wearable for anyone who enjoys cool-toned shades. The quality is very good for a drugstore pigment and rivals high end competitors. I would buy these again with a coupon, I try to never pay MSRP for drugstore makeup.
