Current Beauty Obsessions: Hair Favorites

Written by , Posted in Gloria, Hair, Product Review

My beauty obsessions are always changing.  Before picking up a product, I sometimes stare at my beauty shelf pretending I’m Heidi Klum, telling my products, “One day you’re in, and the next day you’re out.”  I’m starting a mini-post series entitled “Current Beauty Obsessions” to highlight the tools, products, and even stores, spas, and salons that I absolutely love.

I’m starting this series off with hair since it’s super important to have amazing hair.  These three products I’m highlighting today have been the reason why I brag about having fabulous hair.  Let me in the comments or on Twitter @GloriaYangBB know if you’ve tried any of them and what are your current beauty obsessions!

TopStyler by InStyler Hair

The TopStyler is like a hot roller that’s capable of pin curls. It’s a really versatile tool that allows you to create all sorts of different curls, from Veronica Lake curls to large flouncy curls, depending on how you twirl and clamp your hair into the ceramic c-shell camps. The ceramic coated clamps heat up to about 200° F, meaning it’s a lot less damaging than a curling iron. Plus the hair cools down as it sets, which keeps the curls in place for a much longer time. It does take one or two tries to perfect the technique but it’s really not much harder than learning to use a curling iron. This was designed by celebrity hairstylist Linda Flowers who used this to create the chunky dreadlocks-like look Scarlett Johansson sported in Iron Man 2! The TopStyler is available at topstyler.com, QVC.com, Walmart, Ulta, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Sears, Kohl’s, Macy’s, and Dillard’s.

Shu Uemera Cleansing Oil Shampoo

Inspired by the cult-favorite Shu Uemera Facial Cleansing Oil, Mr. Uemera based the Cleansing Oil Shampoo on the same scientific concept of “oil removes oil.” Like the Facial Cleansing Oil, the shampoo version cleanses the hair so thoroughly without stripping it of its natural oils. The end result? Soft, bouncy, volumized hair that always looks amazing. While it’s a tad pricey at $55, a bottle lasts forever. On top of that, I have not yet had a bad hair done since I started using the Cleansing Oil Shampoo! This shampoo is only available online and at select salons, including the Rossano Ferretti Hairspa (coincidentally one of my favorite salons in Beverly Hills). Ferretti was quite fond of his shampoo. Taking time out to meet with a few editors in his Beverly Hills salon, he likened the shampoo’s ability to bring hair back to its natural state to his personal hair philosophy of The Metodo. Both the shampoo and The Metodo allows hair to look its best by bringing out its natural radiance, which is how hair should be.

Shu Uemera Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil

Featuring camellia oil from the Japanese Camellia tree, Essence Absolue is liquid gold for hair. This rapidly absorbing oil is high in essential lipids, which leads to hair that’s incredibly healthy, shiny, and weightless. I usually apply two pumps into damp hair as a treatment oil and an additional pump after it’s tried as a styling serum. Between the oil and the oil shampoo, I boast nonstop about my fabulous hair. Really, you are more then welcomed to touch it if you ever run into me on the street.
