MAC What Joy! Lipstick from Glitter Ice Collection Swatches and Review
I stepped out of my comfort zone for this berry-hued lipstick. The Limited Edition tag caught my eye and I figured I’d better snatch up any “maybes” before I lost the chance…
Where to Buy: wherever MAC is sold, maccosmetics.com
- vivid pigmentation
- color doesn’t match the tube (a pro for me)
seasonal item, Limited Edition
Packaging: The Glitter and Ice collection went for a simple, subtle change that completely transformed the look of their packaging: white. Instead of lipsticks coming in a black tube in a black box, they came in a white tube from a silver box. I am a HUGE fan of the white packaging!
This lipstick is a gorgeous shade that I think a lot of people could get away with. It’s bold like a red, without being so over-the-top as a fire truck red. It’s somewhat staining so wear a balm underneath if you’re so inclined. And this shade does seem more drying overall than other MAC lipsticks I’ve tried but feels creamy and slick for several hours. This particular Satin formula will settle into (perhaps even accentuating!) nooks and crannies so exfoliate and moisturize before applying. Blot to create a more stained effect.
I would recommend a lipliner to keep the lipstick in place but I never wear one so it’s not crucial.
I also love that the color is buildable. The color in the tube is a deep deep raisin plum. On the lips, it can be a bright fuschia/berry to that deep deep wine color, depending on your application.
Overall, I’m glad I decided to grab this shade. It’s unlike anything else in my collection and feels festive without being garish.
