The Face Magnet primer is designed to act as a magnet for makeup, meaning that your makeup will stay put all day and night long. The texture is a bit thicker, heavier, and less velvety than your typical silicone based primer, which means it takes a little bit more work to blend into your skin. On the bright side, Face Magnet totally mattifies the skin like no other, and also brightens and evens the tone of my complexion. It also does help makeup last longer by really creating that matte barrier between my skin and makeup.
Unfortunately, it didn’t quite smooth out my complexion’s texture as much as I’d like, and my makeup did not glide on as well as I think it should with a primer underneath. Like mentioned above, it does lighten the skin a tad, so gals with darker skintones might want to test it out first to make sure your skin doesn’t look ashy.
The most pleasant surprise however, was the subtle matcha green tea fragrance! It’s barely detectable, but in the morning, it smells so calming and soothing! While I’m unable to detect my skin being “energized” by the caffeine with a naked eye, I do like the scent of matcha green tea!
It’s a decent primer that works best for oily skin, as it truly keeps the skin uber matte. You might want to check it out if you’re looking for a less slippery mineral based primer, or if you just love the scent of matcha green tea!
